Waterton Park Golf Club in Wakefield is set amongst the wonderful Yorkshire Countryside, and boasts glorious views over one of Yorkshire's most picturesque lakes. The 18 hole '6781' yard course was built within the walls of the historic Waterton Estate. The course is built on the world's first nature reserve. Charles Waterton, a Victorian naturalist created the nature reserve in 1820, and he dedicated his life to preserving the local wildlife in the area. Today the course still shares the park with all manner of wildlife. The par 72 course has been built to extremely high standards with USGA specification greens and tree-lined fairways. The club prides itself on the condition of the course especially its fairways and greens, the greens are in play all year round. The design of the course cleverly utilises the 200 acres available, creating a spaciousness not found in many courses set in smaller areas.
The club boasts excellent practice facilities for members and visitors alike. The Crofton View driving range spans 40 acres, with covered bays, you can test your driving, pitching, chipping and bunkers skills. The driving range opens from 8am and closes an hour before dusk. The putting green is located next to the first hole.
The modern two-storey clubhouse provides luxurious facilities for members and visitors. On the ground floor of the clubhouse there are the spacious ladies and gentlemans changing rooms and a spike bar which overlooks the 1st Hole. The spike bar is open seven days a week serving delicious beverages and snacks. On the top floor of the clubhouse you can dine at the Park Restaurant and Grill. The restaurant serves modern English cuisine and it offers diners stunning views of the course making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy great food.
