Designed by Donald Steel, one of Britain's leading course architects, the course has been extensively upgraded and lengthened in recent years. The course at Canmore Golf Club has been at its present site since 1902. Until 1913, the course consisted of nine holes, with the present 3rd hole being the original 1st. In 1914, the course layout changed to 18 holes with the help of Mr. Ben Sayers of Berwick. Soon after the opening of the new course, most of it was given up to help with the war effort, mainly for the purpose of drying netted flax. The course was given back to the club in 1921 and by the following year, redesigned, was fully operational. This lasted until 1941 when again most of the course was given up for the war effort - this time in the form of cultivated land. The course was again given back to the club in 1946, again redesigned, and with the exception of a few minor changes this is the current layout. In recent years many trees have been added to the course, creating a more defined layout. [More...]

Cleveland Golf Club are very proud of the fact that we are the oldest golf course in Yorkshire, having being established in 1887. Our Championship links course, again, the only links course in Yorkshire, is situated by the shores of the North Sea and measures 6,696 yards from the white tees with a par of 72. Set in 200 acres of mature parkland, Cottingham Parks is an 18 hole, 6,459 yard, par 72, golf course that belies its age, making good use of the existing trees enhanced by landscaping and many man made water features. The course presents a fair challenge to all levels of golfers. This family run club has quickly established itself in the local golfing community, playing host to union matches and Yorkshire Scratch League events. The signature hole, the 12th, is not the longest hole on the course, measuring a mere 346 yards, but it has seen the end of many promising medal cards. The Mackintosh course at Cottrell Park is named after Alfred Donald Mackintosh of Mackintosh, the 28th Chief of Clan Mackintosh and Chief of Clan Chattan, who resided at Cottrell during the 19th and 20th Centuries. The course provides 6,407 challenging yards off the White tees and has been designed around the original features of the rolling parkland, including a Roman motte. This championship course has been selected for a number of Welsh Golf Union and Welsh Ladies Golf Union events, as well as County matches, which is indeed a compliment to a course so young. Dudley Golf Club was founded in 1893 as a nine hole Golf course. The site was an area now covered by the Russells Hall Estate at Himley Road.
